52nd Birmingham Boys' Brigade

Welcome to the 52nd Birmingham Boys' Brigade Website.

Our Brigade meets every Thursday night at St. Phillip and St. James Church, Hodge Hill. Our evening starts at 6:30 with the Anchor and Junior Section which lasts until 7:30 for Anchors and 8:00 for the Juniors. At 8.00, the Company and Senior sections arive and their night ends at 10:00. The BB is a uniformed organisation and members throughout the Brigade are expected to attend in their uniforms where points for inspection are collected and count for the Best Boy award, which is presented to the boy with the highest marks throughout the year at the annual Awards Evening.

Announcements:

Can all Company section make sure they are ready for inspection at 8:00 against the wall in the Purdy as it is expected that it will take longer this year due to an increase in numbers in the section. Tom

The total amount raised for World Vision from the 24 hour fast was £360 which was more then we estimated. Well done and thanks to everyone who took part! All Staff

17 July 2004: Sutton and Birmingham Brigade Annual Camp in the Isle of Wight.

11 July 2004: Pre-Camp Parade Service. Our captain; Terry Bounds, is the Commanding Officer on this years camp therefore the Pre-Camp parade service will be held at St. Phillip and St. James the Sunday before we go. This is an opportunity to meet up with the people you will be sharing the week at camp with and to get to know the officers and your tent commanders well.

24 June 2004: Annual Awards Evening. Check the Members Section for awards and results.

16 May 2004: The Annual Batalion Celebration Service at The Great Hall in Aston University took place and was attended by many members from Birmingham Brigades including the 52nd. Special Guests included the Lord Lietenant for the West Midlands, Mr Robert Taylor and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr John Alden. The service itself was lead by the 52nd's chaplain Rev. Richard Taylor.

12 May 2004: The David Woodfield Trophy was entered by members of the Anchor section. Together the Anchor boys created a large picture depicting the Good Samaritan Story. The picture will be uploaded to the website in the near future for all to see.

12 - 14 March 2004: Woodlands Camp was attended by members from the Junior Section and an enjoyable fun packed week was enjoyed by all members.

3 March 2004: The Figure Marching Competion for the Tony Thomas Trophy took place at our company on the 3rd of March. Our entry was trained by Tom Ford. This years winners were the 2nd Sutton Coldfield with the 70th Birmingham coming second and the 52nd and 3rd Sutton tied for third place. Congratulations to Ryan Coley from our Juniors as the judge was very impressed by his marching.
